Trouble with lead it nose dives into every crevice or snag available, no good for very snaggy swims. try plasticine, cheap too.... I have also used potatoes for weight, singles not the 5kg bags doh!!

rig tubing is ideal for snags to protect the mainline, but id stick to using plasticine for weights, as it gets a bit expensive loosing leads and replacing them all the time as i found out in my first...
